The Workforce Development Trust is a separate standalone charitable trust established by the Hui Taumata Trust in June 2007 with the aim of accelerating Maori economic development through developing workforce capability.

The Regional Workforce Development project is intended to support the development of local and regional responses to national strategies and initiatives.

In 2006, 15% of the New Zealand population identified themselves as Māori. This is projected to increase to 17% by 2026 - an increase of almost 200,000 people.

The productivity and success of an organisation reflects how well it brings together people, skills, technology, capital and other inputs to increase its profitability and market share.

The Hui Taumata Trust is dedicated to the expansion of Maori economic pathways. Our kaupapa is to foster Māori-led economic development through partnerships between Māori, business and government.
