The Hui Taumata event, MATA “An eye to the future” was a huge success. 300 people packed out the Symposia and Marketplace and close to 200 attended the evening event. We received excellent feedback from the symposia attendees about the topics and the very high quality of speakers. Each symposium ran from 10.00am through until 4.45pm and was made up of a range of speaker presentations with commentary and feedback from the floor throughout the day and work-shop sessions in the afternoon. Wellington Treaty settlement takes major step

In a ceremony held at Parliament today, the Port Nicholson Block Claims Team initialled a Deed of Settlement with the Crown, covering all the historical Treaty claims of Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika, Treaty Negotiations Minister Michael Cullen said. Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika is a collective that comprises people from a number of Taranaki iwi whose ancestors migrated to Wellington in the 1820s and 30s and signed the Port Nicholson Block Deed of Purchase in 1839.  See the news on TVNZ.co.nz ... read more
